Advocacy
Family & Children’s Service, $5,000
In support of A Rainbow after the Storm a project to create systems change by involving GLBTQA youth of color in youth-led civic engagement and advocacy activities related to school or other local or state policies that youth identify are of concern. Providing leadership development and civic engagement training for GLBTQA youth of color along with coaching as youth carry out youth-designed and youth-led systems change projects.
The mission of Family & Children’s Service is to build strong families, vital communities, and capable children.
Midwest Health Center for Women, $5,000
To document the sexual health care experiences and needs of women who sleep with women (WSW) through a series of focus groups and surveys, with the end result being a comprehensive report on the results; and to raise awareness within the GLBT community about the importance of sexual health care for WSW.
The mission of Midwest Health Center for Women is to provide quality health care and advocate and promote reproductive freedom and healthy sexuality.
Rainbow Families, $5,000
To support their School Initiative, which works to create school environments in Minnesota that are safe and welcoming for children with one or more LGBT parent. This is achieved by helping schools to develop more inclusive policies, forms, and curriculum; empowering parents to make change and take on leadership roles in their schools; and providing training about LGBT families to educators and school administrators.
Rainbow Families works to build a safe, just, and affirming world for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender parents and their children.
GLBT Seniors
GLBT Generations, $1,500
In support of a GLBT Aging Policy Conference used to impact and improve quality of life for GLBT seniors.
The mission of GLBT Generations is to ensure GLBT persons are able to achieve satisfying quality of life in later years. Generations is the primary organization focused on the needs of GLBT elders in the Twin Cities.
Quad Citians Affirming Diversity, $3,710
To support Phase Two of their Breaking the Silence Project– a cultural competency training program on the needs of LGBT seniors. Using the curriculum developed in Phase One to conduct training for direct caregivers employed at 20 of the more than 50 health and service provider agencies and institutions in the greater Quad City Area
Quad Citians Affirming Diversity [QCAD] aims to bring gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight people together to learn from each other and to create an affirming community.
Youth Initiatives
aMaze, $5,000
To increase the organization’s reach in Iowa and North and South Dakota. aMaze uses children’s books to promote empathy and compassion across differences with elementary children. Their award-winning Families All Matter Book Project promotes positive learning environments for all children by introducing diversity through the common theme of family.
aMaze champions safety and belonging for all children and families.
Lutheran Social Service, $3,000
To support the Together For Youth: Safer Schools Task Force Project to continue its work with school administration in the Duluth area and nearby small towns to increase visibility and advance the civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning people.

BECAUSE, $2,000
To plan and host the Bisexual Empowerment Conference: A Uniting, Supportive Experience. BECAUSE provides educational and fun speakers, workshops and social events in a weekend conference for all bisexuals and their allies.
Multicultural Advocates, $3,000
To continue their Accepting Cultural Change through Education, Prevention & Trust (ACCEPT) program in La Crosse, WI and expand it to provide services for all GLBT people of color in the area.
The mission of the Multicultural Advocates, Inc. is; to promote understanding, acceptance and welcoming of differences in race, culture, orientations, belief systems through education and support.
Minnesota GLBTA Campus Alliance, $2,000
In support of their Campus Resource Guide, a 32-page document listing every known GLBTA resource for students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community members on college and university campuses throughout Minnesota; allowing copies to be printed and distributed to every college campus and high school guidance counseling center in the state.
The MN Campus Alliance strives to build a statewide network of individuals and organizations working for equality and justice on issues of gender and sexual diversity; empowers the voices of groups that are underserved and underrepresented in our campus communities; and creates welcoming, affirming, and safe environments on college and university campuses throughout the state of Minnesota.

To continue their work to bridge the gap between cultural literacy for press and media, as well as media literacy for Indigenous GLBT communities.
Two Spirit Press Room appeared in order to bridge the gap between cultural literacy for press and media, as well as media literacy for Indigenous GLBT communities. This project is a nexus for community building through the arts, Native voices and Women in Leadership.
Preventing Discrimination & Ending Violence
Casa de Esperanza, $5,000
For the re-release and distribution of My Girlfriend did it, a film exploring battering in lesbian relationships, and educational curricula to supplement the film.
Casa de Esperanza’s mission is to mobilize Latinas and Latino communities to end domestic violence.
Gay Straight Alliance for Safe Schools, $5,000
To bring the exhibit, “Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals,” from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum to Wisconsin and to support programming for students, school professionals, and the general public around the exhibit.
The Gay Straight Alliance for Safe Schools is a public benefit organization committed to safe middle schools and high schools for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender youths and all students.
Minnesota Transgender Health Coalition, $5,000
To continue their work to improve the health care experiences of transgender, transsexual, intersex, genderqueer, and other gender variant people living in Minnesota.
The Minnesota Transgender Health Coalition is committed to improving health care access and the quality of health care received by trans and gender variant people through education, resources, and advocacy.
Community Celebrations
20% Theater Company, $3,500
Towards their production of Standards of Care by Tobias K. Davis, award-winning female-to-male (FTM) transgender playwright, to be performed June 6-15, 2008, at Patrick's Cabaret in Minneapolis.
The 20% Theatre Company Twin Cities strives to properly reflect the female majority in the theatre through focusing on the voices of female playwrights while simultaneously tapping into the grossly under-represented population of female directors, producers, technicians, and designers. The 20% Theatre Company Twin Cities welcomes and supports transgender, transsexual, and gender-queer theatre artists, and includes self-identified women in their push for a voice in performing arts. We also recognize that men in the theatre are one of our greatest allies and resources in helping to achieve our goals, and we welcome them in our work on stage.
Duluth Art Institute, $3,500
In support of their exhibition: “Inside Out”. “Inside Out” will be a three-month-long exhibition celebrating the contributions of GLBT visual artists who use the experience of coming to terms with their sexual orientation as a focus in their work.

One Voice Mixed Chorus, $ 5,000
In support of their 20th anniversary concert project Old, New, Borrowed, Q. Partnering with artist, storyteller and host Dan Chouinard, One Voice will fuse choral music with stories of our history and the GLBT movement.
